Advanced American Accents ONLINE (Autumn Term)

Ready to take your Standard American accent to the next level?

This advanced, affordable six-week online course is designed to help you deepen your mastery of the Standard American accent. Through a focused and practical approach, you’ll strengthen your skills and build the tools to confidently apply the accent in professional settings.

This course is ideal for those who have previously completed our American Accents course, studied accent work in drama school, or trained in another vocational setting.

Each session offers a supportive, rigorous, and interactive environment, tailored to help you refine your accent with clarity, consistency, and precision. As the course is developmental, participants are required to book for all six sessions.

Our teacher, Anna McManus is a trained Vocal Coach specialising in singing, accents and public speaking, She’s passionate about educating and empowering people to get the most out of their voices. She works with a mixture of actors, singers and public speakers.

Having originally trained as an actor and singer, She worked in numerous different client facing roles before retraining in Voice Coaching at the prestigious Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, graduating with Distinction. Her goal is to allow people to feel confident in their sung or spoken voice, with clear tools, explanations and steps you can take in order to achieve your most engaging vocal potential.

• Accent Overview outlining conects, posture and Major Consonant Sounds

Week 2

• Accents Vowels sounds

• Accent Prosody

Week 3

• Application of Accents to Monologues

Week 4

• Application of Accents in Scenes

Week 5

• Application of Accent in Cold reading scenarios

Week 6

• Application of Accent with Scenes, Cold reading Continued

• Application of accent in Improvistion.

Actors who’ve worked with Collective have gone on to work in Hollywood films, on Broadway, for the National Theatre, in the West End and in series for Netflix, HBO, BBC, ITV and Channel 4.

We are passionate about working with actors from underrepresented groups and we will always seek to break down barriers to access in professional actor-training.
