Write Your Own Screenplay – ONLINE

Do you need to want to write and develop your own screenplays?

This affordable, six-week course will allow you to work with established screenwriters to explore the fundamentals of writing a screenplay. By the end of the course, you will have developed the knowledge, skills and understanding you need to progress as a screenwriter.

This course will be taught by the fantastic Colin Waiit.

Colin Waitt is an educator with extensive professional experience as an actor, writer, and producer. His happy place is helping students come into their own as creative individuals.In addition to the Collective, Colin has enjoyed teaching courses and masterclasses at The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, University of West London/London College of Music, Identity School of Acting, School of Visual Arts (NYC), and the University of Florida (Gainesville). He holds an MA in Acting for the Screen from the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama.
Acting highlights include the Drama Desk Award-winning The Mysteries (The Flea; NYC), This Is Steve (TV pilot, Untethered Films; London), Pool Play (International Theatre Festival of Kerala, India), as well as content for Carmex and Houghton Mifflin.His writing has screened in 20+ international film festivals and will feature in the upcoming Short-Form Creative Writing: A Writer’s Guide and Anthology, due out in 2026. Let’s Get Weird debuted as a #1 new release on Amazon (US), and its works are licensed worldwide.Colin produced the original sell-out run of Puffs, or: Seven Increasingly Eventful Years at a Certain School of Magic and Magic. It is currently one of the most licensed scripts in the United States.

Sessions will explore: an understanding of story structure, character development, dialogue, screenplay format, and the overall process of writing a script.

Other topics covered include story ideation, loglines, character arcs, scene writing, treatments, drafting, and revision. Whether you want to write a feature film, pilot, web series, or short film, this course will provide you with the core knowledge and skills you need to start writing your first screenplay.

These classes offer a supportive, rigorous, environment for you to develop your writing skills.

We are passionate about working with actors from underrepresented groups and we will always seek to break down barriers to access professional actor-training.
