How to Date

PART OF THE COLLECTIVE FRINGE FESTIVAL

‘How To Date’ is a dark comedy play that explores vulnerability and inequalities faced by young women in London.

Clarissa and Emily have been roommates for 3 years. They met after Clarissa got into university and Emily moved to London from Cheltenham. The two are navigating adult life together, trying to find jobs and exploring the modern dating scene. Oblivious to issues, including grooming and sexism.

After Clarissa stands up for herself at work she is forced to take on a new job, causing a downhill spiral in her life. The story takes a dark turn involving sexual assault and unwanted pregnancy.

Will Emily support Clarissa or will their friendship end forever?

The story is inspired by Stephanie’s own experiences growing up and aims to raise awareness for other women.
